The works involved the conversion of an existing building in the centre of Whitstable to provide new town-centre dwellings and a restaurant. It stands in a prominent position in the high Street and has strong historic, visual and emotional links to the town.

The works were detailed involved with several important constraints, quite apart from the building being listed.
